One Third Ceiling makes open file formats and the tools that love them. Your books, your lists, your teaching cases — in files you can read, share with anyone, and keep forever. Our apps are the best way to use them; they’ll never be the only way.
We build software for the quiet, durable parts of life: a toddler’s bookshelf with a grandparent’s voice tucked inside it, a family’s running lists, the reference material a teacher reaches for year after year. Software for things people intend to keep.
How we work
We are a small independent studio, and we design every product around three commitments:
- Your data is a file, and the file is yours. Everything our apps create can be exported as a plain, documented file — readable JSON and universal media formats — that opens with or without us.
- No accounts required, no data held hostage. Our apps work offline, sync through your own device platform where available, and never warehouse your family’s recordings or photos on our servers.
- Built to be handed down. A library made in our apps today should open on whatever your kids are using in twenty years.
